Ingersoll Pipe Band 95th Anniversary - By PM Jim Muterer

Reunions are great times to renew old friendships and also provides opportunities for former members to show off their skills at what they used to do. The Pipe Band reunion held on August 27th and 28th was no exception and many former members showed they still could play pipes and drums like they used to.

On the morning of August 27th we had an engagement in downtown Ingersoll to play for Harvest Fest and 3 former members played with us. Drummers Martin Brooks, Robb MacKay and piper Gary Moore. In the afternoon former members came from far and near to meet, greet and reminisce about times and events past. Piping and drumming with many joining in. Watson (Scoot) Muir piper and Art Presswell drummer from the 1940's were the oldest former members with us and representatives from the 40's to the present renewed old acquaintances and retold stories of events that had happened. A banquet in the evening brought 100 people together for a great gathering and a Sunday morning brunch fed about 50 before they went back to their respective homes.

In 5 more years we will celebrate the 100th year of the Ingersoll Pipe Band and hopefully all former and present members will come together to participate in this momentous occasion. We hope to be able to put together a written history of the band for the 100th and would ask any former members or anyone who knows about the band to give us your memories... Jim

Update Ingersoll Pipe Band 95th Anniversary

This year, 2005, marks the 95th anniversary of the beginning of the Ingersoll Pipe Band. To commemorate this important birthday we are, once again, hosting a reunion of all former and present members to be held August 27th and 28th. Many people have joined the ranks of the band during those 95 years and each person has added to the history of this renowned organization.

The band will be playing an engagement in downtown Ingersoll at the Gazebo on Saturday August 27th at 10:30am so come and listen or bring your instrument and join us in playing. A registration period for the reunion will begin at 1pm at the Band Hall, so everyone can get together for fun, conversation and a little piping and drumming.

A banquet and ceilidh will be held in the evening starting at 6pm for happy hour and the meal starting at 7pm. If you can't make it in the morning or afternoon come to the banquet and renew acquaintances.

Sunday morning we are planning a brunch from 9 to 11am for anyone who is still around to finish up the celebrations.

We always welcome pictures or other articles from the past for display or to be added to our band collection.

95 years is something to celebrate!
